The Night Sky by Sarah Klassen
Same old strangers (possibly astrologers,
possibly three) camel their usual way
from east to west crossing blank desert,
time zones. What they are heading for
remains unclear. Under the stingy sun
they trespass foreign fields, prod their animals
past lethargy. How quietly
the winter shadows lengthen,
landscapres shift as if crean, roused,
hopes for release. At nightfall they...
You know what? Shut up. Your life is not bad compared to mine. I’d rather go through what you’re going through now, then have to live this life which has dragged on for years. Do you see me sulking about it and affecting my everyday life? Sure I might say “Uggh I hate my life” but trust me, my life has been harder than yours for the past year.
